These are all captive bred iguanas (no wild caught). Breeding generations of socialized iguanas lends to more easy-going personalities. Baby iguanas become accustomed to human presence over a few weeks' time, becoming much less likely to frighten. It is recommended that upon receiving your baby iguana that you refrain from handling it for a couple of weeks. This allows for acclimation to a new environment, which leads to a feeling of security. Iguanas are particularly fussy about change, so it is normal for them to refuse food for a couple of days after entering a new environment. Don't panic! They just need to feel secure. As tempting as it is to handle your new companion, it increases stress levels for an already stressed animal. Trust us- when your new iggy feels secure, it will start leaping toward you when you place food in the cage! Be patient and your new buddy will eventually take food right from your hands!
