Diet

Green Iguanas are strictly herbivores! While you may have seen wild iguanas on vacation snatching tourists' snacks, that doesn't mean the iguana *should* be eating those things. Stick the dark, leafy greens as a staple. Collard greens, mustard greens, kale, and turnip greens are great. Iceberg lettuce is essentially crunchy water with no real nutritional value. Green iguanas do NOT eat protein. No insects, no dog food, no meat of any kind. This can cause irreversible damage and early death. Steer clear of pelleted food found in big box pet stores. Natural is always best.

Below you will find a link to general feeding and supplementation tips and another link with safe and specific fauna and the amount you should be offering your iguana. While the second link is tailored to tortoises, you can use this guide to see which foods are safe to offer to your iguana.
